As AZMAT System has been developed entirely in Microsoft Excel spreadsheet environment, the users will need to have Excel running under Windows on their personal computers in order to use this system.
The students will install the system on their own personal computers to learn and familiarize themselves with various investment banking and risk management business terms, at home and at their own pace.
They will also learn how risk management and spreadsheet dealing-room systems are developed by reading the 200-page on-line Help file and by observing the unprotected spreadsheet models and programming code, as each command is carried out.
AZMAT System covers three main areas: Programming; Spreadsheet Modelling; and Business knowledge. It is mainly aimed at those who are interested in improving their employment prospects in either the computing or the financial industry.
The students could be based anywhere but they would be able to put a few questions via e-mail directly to the author of AZMAT System. The author will attempt to answer their questions via this site. The (edited) questions and their answers will be published under the appropriate category from the following list: 'General'; 'Programming'; 'Spreadsheet Modelling'; 'Business knowledge'; 'Basic System'; 'Calculation Models'; 'Asset Swap Model'; and 'Risk Management systems'. Other categories will be added as and when required. As AZMAT System will only be released when a large number of people are interested in purchasing it, it is anticipated that these (expected) thousands of 'Questions and Answers' themselves will become a valuable learning source for all.
You can choose to attend seminars by the author of the system via the internet and conference call. It is anticipated that in these seminars various topics from the system will be discussed by the author in depth and many seminar participants will have the opportunity to put questions directly to the author of the system.

What is AZMAT System
AZMAT System is a risk management and front-office dealing room system developed entirely in Excel spreadsheet environment. It has a 200-page on-line Help file explaining every single command used. It has taken more than eight man-years to develop and the entire system has more than 100 system files.

It is anticipated that you would install AZMAT System on your personal computer for educational use. The system is password protected at various levels but you will receive the passwords so you can observe all the unprotected financial spreadsheet models and the program code as each command is carried out. There will also be educational seminars where you can put questions directly to the author. AZMAT System covers three main areas: Programming; Spreadsheet Modelling; and Business knowledge.

Main Program File
AZMAT System has over 100 system files (about 9MB in total) and the main one MB program file is written in Excel 4/5 macro language. The current version of Excel does not let you create new Excel 4/5 macro program files but you can open, view, run, edit and save existing Excel 4/5 macro program files either with the same name or with a different name. You can create new and edit existing Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) files in the current version of Excel.

The main program file interacts with various spreadsheets and VBA program files in such a way that the user is completely unaware whichever version of Excel is being used from version 5 right up to the latest version 12 (Microsoft Office 2007) - running under Windows 3.11 to Windows XP. For example, AZMAT System has program files to create menus in three different ways and depending on the version of Excel, the appropriate menu system and program code are used. By observing the unprotected macro and VBA program code and more than two dozen financial models, and after attending seminars by the author, hopefully you will also be able to design and develop financial systems that run smoothly under various versions of Excel and Windows.

Who is most likely to benefit from AZMAT System:

those who have considerable knowledge or experience in at least one of the above areas

If you are good at programming but perhaps not confident in mathematics, you can concentrate on the programming aspect of AZMAT System.
